Setting Intentions – From the Heart

JAN 2017

A new year…. a new start….a new resolution…a new regime…

But why??  Why January? What did September do wrong?

Stepping out of my devil’s advocate clothing for a moment, I just

want to sing the praises of all the other 11 months in the year:

Each of which would welcome you, wholeheartedly, if you felt the need to

re-evaluate your journey and set it on a different course.

Any day; any month; any moment we have the ability to start afresh and change the course of our lives. The ONLY rule, and there is only ONE, is your intention must, I repeat, MUST, come from the heart.  If it’s passed through the head at any point….well…. it’s sustainability will be questionable.  Any intention must be harmonious and supportive and really take us forward in a loving and a kind way. Ask yourself this question: Are your new intentions based on love? Is it something that will take you closer to your humanity? Your true Self?

This January’s classes have been based around visualisation and one great visual practice I love offering is “Meeting Yourself”. It’s an amazing way to witness how you actually feel and ‘see’ yourself. Do you have respect and compassion and love towards You, or are you naturally self-deprecating, critical and judgmental?

Once you know that you can meet yourself lovingly, then whatever intentions you set yourself will come from that place of love, generosity and truth.

If you wish to try “Meeting Yourself” here’s the visualisation I use. If you wish, ask a friend or loved one to read through the following guide, or read it a few times yourself, then close your eyes, and, simply do it!

Enjoy  ૐ xx

Close your eyes and relax in a comfortable position.

Imagine yourself in some beautiful natural environment…any place that appeals to you: a meadow; mountaintop; forest; beside a lake. It should feel peaceful and, most importantly, safe. Establish this place as yours; your sanctuary.

Now imagine within your sanctuary is a path, and you are standing on this path looking into the distance. You see a form coming towards you radiating a clear bright light. As this form approaches, you begin to see that it is you…walking towards you.

Look at yourself.

Watch yourself; how you move; how you look. Do you look happy? Unhappy? How are YOU doing? Is there something you would like to give to this other YOU; some reassurance; some love; a hug; a kind word?

Watch how your kind words and actions manifest themselves in YOU.

Invite yourself into your sanctuary. Sit there together.

Sit with this moment and know that you are whole; complete. Everything you need is already within.

Now….from this place of truth and love…..set your intentions.

Namaste ૐ
